Solar Panels

The UK Heat Incentive And Thermal Solar Panels

With oil prices rising and the concerns of global warming attributed to the burning of fossil fuels, there has never been a better time to convert to renewable energy. Public usage of green energy’s technologies is becoming more popular daily. In the UK, the government has set up a scheme through
which those households with lower incomes or other needs can have renewable energy technology, such as solar panels, installed in their homes.

There is an average of 1000 watts/metre squared of energy transferred to the earth through sunlight. Thermal solar panels absorb the sunlight and harness this energy to charge batteries, which can then be used to power the heating system in the house. This does no damage, whatsoever to the environment,  and now panels can even be found in ‘brick’ to match the roof tiles.

Even though the technology is now ‘designer’, and have been refined for the mass market, they are fairly expensive without a grant or subsidy. However, if one thinks in the long term; the amount that can be saved outweighs the initial payment. Still, there is now a further incentive to switch from non-
renewable to renewable energy supplies.

There is a government backed benefit scheme called the Renewable Heat Incentive, for people who are willing to utilise green energy to produce heat. It has just been released in 2011, so it’s straight off the press. The system rewards those utilising solar panels, or other such technology, with a fixed rate income for every kilowatt house of energy they produce. They can also earn a further income if the energy they supply is exported to others perhaps on the same supply network.

It is now easier than ever to change household supply to renewable energy resources. There are a plethora of companies that can give quotes or begin the transition right away. With systems now being put in place by the government, the revolution has begun.
